...That which is secretive, still less. The most powerful mansion on the earth, has turned into a transit accommodation for many who would have been inmates for a full-term presidency, unless they were to face the displeasure of the President himself. The odd situation is that staff is leaving on confessions and pressures from committees without. Mike Flynn, being the latest, not to mention previous aides, campaign managers, even closing on to secretary of state. There is talk of heat catching on to the President’s inner family, but perhaps that is wishful thinking, perhaps the last pitch which investigative agencies, and the press can muster to keep ratings up. Its about the campaign, and all the President’s men, but not in the same theme the term was used much earlier. Its about association with Russia, which not a bad word, and does not refer to its communist philosophy, widely popularized as subversive in the west. Nothing substantial has come out, though campaign officers have confessed to “meetings”, with presumed directions from higher bosses. Nothing in the name of treason or anti-American agenda is even remotely suggested. ...

...If you may pose the same query to the leader of the opposition, what it feels like to be there, the curt answer could be, “Wait for a couple of years, and then ask me this question”! Rahul Gandhi, the present vice President of the GOP, for beyond a decade, eight years of which the party was in power, is all set to claim the top post from his mother, her blessings and those of the rest of the party included. The electoral process is about to begin, and though he is un-opposed, they’ll undergo the democratic process, the crowning ceremony to be somewhere around the third week of December! A young man, now taking the brunt of the election in formidable Gujarat after the announcement of his elevation, makes one wonder if he should have been unleashed by the ageing party earlier on. He has been the most consistent face (though inconsistent at times), of the party. ...

...Who till recent was the richest man, and as an entrepreneur sees his company sustain aggression in sales, innovation and R&D to be at the top. All these achievements are not unknown in in other industrialists, from Alfred Nobel, to Henry Ford, Edison, Carnegie, and they also contributed for social welfare, which makes CSR a rule today to preserve one’s manufacturing licence. Back home, the Birla institutes, Tata trusts, Goenka, Cipla and Wokhardt and many others turned towards philanthropy. ...

...I can’t reveal the actual time in multiples of two that I engaged him in, to nab an instant marketing duck, but to be acceptable as a writer, belonging to the same flock that has been accused, I rather accept I am no different. The question now is, how correct is the recently published article in the press that most patients complain that doctors hardly lend their ears for beyond two minutes, for a medical interaction? I must confess that I have heard similar stories every now and then from those whom I treat, but I dare not say I am absolved of the accusation, being a part of the alleged clan. To give some defence to the onslaught on the “noble profession”, as it was called sometime back, and wishfully even now, there are two types of medical practices. One, like the one I am engaged in, that is institution based, where if you see ten to twenty so called unsettled speciality cases, and the other, home based practices. ...

...As law goes in most countries now, the actual issue of over-prescription of pain killers, all of which are addictive, and have side effects, and synthetic opioids the foremost, the crux of the matter, where the FDA or any regulatory body (the MCI in India), may keep a tab on overall, use of such medication. A single or a few companies may receive a warning regarding their turnover, where the purpose is to study trends, The crux, which is the damage to patient health, dependence caused, is what needs to be addressed. The allegation of incentives and loss of revenue to insurance companies, is in a way taking the heat away from the key issue of health. ...

...From what the world thought were “tinker, tailor” jobs, diligent China has moved further and added, “soldier, spy”. The Declaration by the Chinese President on Oct 18th that went over for beyond three hours, had contents that the other global powers can’t set aside. China is ready to engage in world trade with any country under bilateral or existing terms. It is open to for any foreign investments or collaborations, that are mutually beneficial. It has called for transparency in all its transactions. Judging its internal changes well, where it is likely to falter, it shall be getting rid of over-capacity units, and move over medium and some quality manufacturing. As a neighbour, India is always ready to learn, and has appreciations. ...

...As yet, only patchy, regional, enclosed success is available in some parts of the world, that too without a final sanction. Let me simplify. The two situations that came under consideration were, a living person’s personal desire, where medical science gives him just few months to sustain, but in pain, misery, and no cure, he may be granted legal clearance in asking medical science to snuff the life out of him, an act called “mercy killing”, technically, “euthanasia”. ...
