...There wasn’t much of the form happening in Delhi in the 70s except one dancer Radha Marar who used to teach at Natya Ballet Centre. She had learned from Satyabhama teacher and taught me some items and adavus. But I wanted to go deeper into the form. It was around then that Kamladevi Chattopadhyaya, who headed Sangeet Natak Akademi, saw me dance. She called me over and told me that she wanted to do something for Mohiniyattam. She also called over Kavalam Sir and G Aravindan from Kerala for a meeting. Aravindan had worked really closely with Kavalam at Thiruvarangu, an experimental theater group. A fellowship scheme was launched for two years to study Mohiniyattam further.
