...Now, what if we told you that you could get your local barbershop or hairdresser’s to help you out? You heard that right. In fact, in a barbershop in the US State of Michigan, children improve their literacy skills while getting a hair cut. ‘The Fuller Cut’ offers children haircuts at a $2 discount, if they read a book out loud to their barber, the US’ National Public Radio reported earlier this week. And don’t think the children can pretend to read while letting their minds wander. According to the report, the barbers ask their young customers questions to test whether they’ve grasped what they’ve been reading! And since many of the children who get their hair cut at the shop are black, The Fuller Cut has several books with black protagonists. ...

...His father, Brenden Bickerstaff-Clark, had someone film the moment when he told the boy of his mother’s passing, and posted the video on Facebook. And as you’ll see for yourself, it’s utterly heart-rending. But why share such a painful, private moment with hundreds and thousands of people? “So addicts with children can see the seriousness of our epidemic,” wrote Brendan on Tuesday, who – by his own admission – is a recovering addict himself. “This is the…reality of our disease. Don’t let this disease have to make someone tell your child that you’re dead because of drugs. This was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do,” Brendan wrote. Just think about how hard it must have been for his son. ...

...Ask him to try watching a sit-com, and see if that cheers him up? Tell him to stop being dramatic? If you chose option two or three, there’s a video from the White Swan Foundation for Mental Health that you need to watch right away. In the video, a man – Madhu – opens up about his experiences with this illness, which he says rendered him “completely apathetic.” He says he must have been depressed for around a year and a half before he understood something wasn’t right. And he thinks that being a man may have made it harder to accept what he was going through. Although he knows now that depression is just a condition that needs to be treated – just like any other physical illness – he thinks “societal conditioning” caused him to think that if he admitted that he might be depressed, he was somehow weak. ...

...He describes his attempts to try and seduce a married woman, and suggests that women let stars do “anything,” including grabbing them by the genitals. You can read the transcript here. On Saturday, Hillary Clinton called the comments “horrific.” Prominent Republican leader Paul Ryan said he was “sickened” by Trump’s remarks, and actually disinvited Trump from an event in Wisconsin. Donald Trump has apologized – twice – but this episode is sure to come back many times to haunt him during the remainder of the campaign. While there’s nothing funny whatsoever about the comments Trump made in his video, some Twitterati couldn’t help taking a few potshots at Trump and his campaign after news broke that he was now facing what’s arguably his biggest setback during this election season. ...

...He seems to be on the verge of tears. You learn that someone has stolen his cycle from him, and he’s desperately trying to find it. Just how much of your time do you think you’ll spend trying to help him – if at all? Be honest. Would you help him alert the police? Would you ask your friends to pitch in and buy him one? Or would you just walk away, after deciding that you can’t just go around helping everyone? Well, last week, Punekar Tanvi Jain did meet a security guard who was “almost in tears” after his cycle was stolen, and her reaction will inspire you. On Saturday, she enjoined her Facebook friends to let her know if they or their friends had a spare cycle to give the guard. But in the end, she ended up getting the man a new cycle, splitting the bill with the “best café everrr” (Cafe with a Twist). You can see watch elderly gentlemen check out his new ride – and try it out – right here. He seems overwhelmed, and can’t stop smiling. After getting off the cycle, he gives the seat a little pat. Yes, it’s his, all right! ...

...And here’s a description of the Trump sandwich: ‘White bread, full of baloney, with Russian dressing, and a small pickle.’ We’re not making this up. Just take a look at all the restaurant signs in tweets below. But it’s also American slang for nonsense. Clever, sure. But ouch. Why Russian salad? Well, it’s almost certainly a reference to all the controversial comments Trump has been making about the US’ great Cold War rival. ...

...His arms are crossed, and it does seem as though he feels he’d rather be anywhere else but there. However, it was probably a case of a photo clicked at exactly the right moment. After all, PM Modi and Dr Singh were attending an event at which Vice-President Hamid Ansari’s new book – Citizen and Society – was released. It wasn’t a committee enquiry into the PM’s response to the Uri terror attack, or on the impact of one of his government’s schemes. But Twitterati couldn’t resist putting their own spin on the photo. The Prime Minister, as we know, is under pressure to walk the talk after the Uri terror attack, which claimed the lives of 18 jawans – and is widely seen as being an example of Pakistan-sponsored terror. ...

...But an ANI video published today shows a man from Mount Abu in Rajasthan doing something rather different. He decided to immortalize his reptile encounter in a selfie. And turned his back on the snake while trying to do so. That the man is still alive doesn’t change the fact that his antics are the very definition of a terrible idea. Fortunately for him, several other men – who were from the forest department, according to an ANI report – were holding the snake while he attempted to photograph himself with it. So all it could do was shoot its head forward and bite into his shoulder. Incredibly, the report says he was “unhurt.” If the other men hadn’t restricted the serpent’s movement, his fate might have been very different. Pythons aren’t venomous. They’re constrictors. They kill their prey by wrapping themselves around them and squeezing hard. Very hard. ...
